PHOTOGRAPHY

Students are periodically photographed and videotaped for use in future Half Moon Theatre literature, advertisements and online social media and promotions. Students are NEVER identified by name. If you do not wish to have your child photographed, you must inform us in writing by emailing the school.

SHOWCASE PERFORMANCE

ALL STUDENTS MUST PARTICIPATE IN THE SHOWCASE. Theater is a team sport. If one person is missing it greatly affects the rest of the group. When you register your child for the session you make a commitment to the Showcase.

The Showcase is an informal presentation designed to give students the opportunity to share their work with family and friends in a fun, low-pressure setting.

All students should wear a HMT School t-shirt, jeans and sneakers to the Showcase. T-shirts are provided once to each student as a gift. If t-shirts are lost or damaged, a replacement will have to be purchased. Additional School merchandise such as sweatshirts and hoodies are also available for purchase.

Additional information will be provided in the weeks preceding the Showcase as well as posted on the Showcase page here on the site.

RESPECT FOR SPACE & FELLOW ACTORS

All students are expected to commit to doing their best by arriving to each class prepared and ready to create. Respect for the work and for fellow artists makes great theatre! Please arrive 5 minutes early to class and be ready to create and collaborate!

Disruptive behavior and/or disrespect towards instructors or fellow artists will not be tolerated. If such behavior is not corrected, a student will be asked to leave the class. In such cases, there will be no refunds. Students waiting to enter class must be supervised by an adult. Please maintain a quiet voice while waiting to enter class and as you leave class.

Parents are requested to stay out of the class area and not to peek through the studio windows. Your presence may be distracting to the students, not to mention it spoils the surprise for you on Showcase Day.

All Students MUST be picked up from class on time. We are not responsible for the care and supervision of children before or after classes.

No food or drink in the classroom other than bottled water with a secure lid. Absolutely NO GUM EVER in the classroom. Please make sure you have had a snack and have used the bathroom BEFORE class so as not to use up precious class time for these activities.

NO CELL PHONES or any kind of toys/games in the classroom. Cell phones must be kept in the reception area and put on vibrate or turned off. There will be no exceptions unless you are using it as your voice recorder.

CLASS ATTIRE

Please wear sneakers and clothing that you can move in. No jewelry or watches. Any visible undergarments or inappropriate clothing WILL NOT be permitted in class.

ABSENCES, VACATIONS, SCHOOL CLOSINGS

In general, the best way to communicate with us is the school email. One of us will return your call as soon as we can. The school phone number (845.418.6468) is an outgoing voicemail line only.

Please email Denise or John in advance of any absences or vacations. Missing more than two classes compromises your child’s ability to perform their best in the showcase. No one likes to perform under-prepared.  Please do your best to miss no more than two classes.

For snow days, severe weather cancellations and emergency closings, we will post any cancellations on our Facebook Page. LIKE us on Facebook as “HalfMoonTheatreSchoolOfTheArts”

Otherwise, PLEASE SIGN UP to receive notices regarding class cancellations due to weather or other emergencies.

Every effort will be made to make up cancelled classes due to a teacher’s illness or bad weather. This is usually accomplished by adding additional time to another class. Since classes are not on-going and only occur for a limited time over each session, make up classes are not available for individual students missing a class.

Should any questions or concerns arise, we are happy to address them with you.  However, this needs to be done outside of class time. Our time between the classes is short and we want to be able to make the children’s transition between classes a good one. Please email us before or after class and we will address any concerns.
