Founded in 2006, Half Moon Theatre is the Hudson Valley’s premier year round professional theatre company. Under the direction of Molly Renfroe Katz, Michael Schiralli, Kristy Grimes and Patty Wineapple, Half Moon Theatre has grown into a true regional theatre --offering a variety of musical theatre, dramas, new plays, cabaret and family programming during the Sept. - June performing arts season. With two performance spaces in the region, Half Moon Theatre produces its Mainstage season and Cabaret series at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NYand hold classes in its vibrant School of the Arts, and performs readings in its Studio Theatre stage in the Oakwood Commons North Building (2515 South Road) in Poughkeepsie.
Half Moon Theatre serves as a cultural home for theatre artists, patrons, and members of our diverse community. We are committed to entertaining and engaging our community through the presentation of excellent theater. HMT produces a variety of work—musicals, dramas, comedies—that is inclusive, as well as engaging and thought provoking. The focus is on telling an authentic story as it relates to the human spirit.
Half Moon Theatre is committed to casting as many actors who are members of Actors’ Equity, the professional actors union, as possible– thus, ensuring the highest quality theatre experience possible for our audience.
We cultivate a new generation of theatre-goers and theatre-makers by offering classes and family friendly productions which subscribe to the ideal that children will meet excellent quality theatre where it lives and benefit from it.
